Body Watch: Sofia Vergara Is Bringing Back Old-Hollywood Curves - Sofia Vergara Curves Visible - Sofia Vergara Looks Very Hot - Sofia Vergara in Beach
Pacific Coast News I Getty Images I Bauer GriffinRemember the old days when Marilyn Monroe's womanly curves inspired the cultural body ideal? Yeah, we don't either, but Sofia Vergara's coveted figure – in rebellion to the stick-thin look – emulates the 1950s pin-up girl. The actress, who plays an outspoken mother on Modern Family, embraces her womanly look and has openly joked about her incessant sweet tooth, hate for exercise, and having food shipped to her home.
Vergara's health regime serves as a reminder that sometimes, indulging in life's (sometimes unhealthy) pleasures can be more gratifying than flaunting a skinny body after hours in the gym. With that said, she does workout occasionally and tries to swap her high-calorie favorite grub for healthier alternatives. She said in an interview with Shape: "I am not very obsessed with dieting and working out, but I always do it. I try to do everything in moderation."
Diet: Vergara isn't one to whip up vegan chocolate chip cookies or a giant plate of pasta and meatballs. In fact, she doesn't like to cook at all. She chooses the easier route – literally – by having food sent to her home. "I always have these Colombian things shipped to me, arepas," she told ABCNews.com. "You can put anything on top of them – cheese, meat, butter, salt. I always have them in my refrigerator and when I really want to feed myself I go for them."The woman who's become known for portraying the exotic, free-spirited role of Gloria Delgado-Pritchett isn't super strict with her diet. When she has to slip on a tight gown for big events, though, she sets some rules for herself. "When I really want to be good and control myself, I have lollipops in my handbag — instead of having a tiramisu, I have a boring lollipop," she told Self in 2010.
Since Vergara says she's "addicted to sugar!" she uses some very particular tactics to reverse her cravings. "After dinner I will eat anything, even just a square of sugar," she told People. A cube of sugar is some seriously concentrated sweetness, so it must do the trick. She also likes to fall back on the lollipop option because "it's better than ordering tiramisu," she explained.
She Actually Despises Exercise – But Still Does It: It's hard to say if Vergara is more averse to diet or exercise. Just like she pushes herself to fight her junk-food tendencies, she also works to fight her tendency to not hit the gym. "I hate to work out. I get in a bad mood when I have to do it!" she told Self. As she approaches the big 40-year-old mark, though, she's extra motivated since her body doesn't bounce back so quickly. The Colombian lady turns to Latin dancing for a spiced-up workout – which she finds way more fun than classic exercise.
When all else fails, Vergara stays motivated by her urge to look good for her TV character. "Nobody wants to see Gloria with a flat a$$!" she's joked.Vergara's Cool With Being Voluptuous: It's hard to envision, but Vergara says she was a total string-bean as a child. "They called me palillo," she told Shape. "Which means toothpick in Spanish." Vergara remembers blossoming (what seemed like) overnight and telling her mom she was going to cut off her breasts when she turned 18.
Vergara can more easily evade size-0 pressures because her character is written for a voluptuous woman. "People expect... a woman to be a little more voluptuous. So they don't expect [her] to be really thin. They want to see Gloria like a voluptuous woman," she explained.
While Vergara's well-endowed chest tends to get the most attention from admirers, her favorite asset is a much more subtle physical trait: her eyes. "They have a natural cat's-eye shape, so I try to play that up," she said. And sometimes, we think it's completely fine to focus on a more understated part of your body...even if everyone's still fixating on your enviable curves.
Body Watch gives the dish on how Hollywood's hottest women get their bodies, keep their bodies, and create their own healthy lifestyle mantras.

With Whom Demi Lovato Dating ? - Demi Lovato Isn't Dating Ryan Phillippe - Demi Lovato Dating Ryan Phillippe ?
(PacificCoastNews and Getty)Demi Lovato (PCN) Monday's news that Demi Lovato, 18, may have had a fling with actor Ryan Phillippe, 36, shocked many of the former Disney star's young fans. Lovato, an avid tweeter, did nothing to dispel the rumors—but a "source" (unnamed, as per usual) claims that these two are definitely not lovebirds: "It's not true. He's totally single."
Ryan may be single now, but the original source claimed he and Lovato were an item before he found out he'd fathered a child with Alexis Knapp, 21. So they aren't dating, but it could have happened, once upon a time in Hollywood...or "Hollyweird," as Demi's fond of calling it.
Whatever the case, Lovato doesn't have time to worry about it: She's got a hit single on her hands!

Morgan Stanley second quarter beat charms investors
The U.S. investment bank's bottom line was helped by strong equity sales and trading results, surprisingly resilient fixed income trading, and lead underwriting positions on several big initial share offerings, particularly in technology.
"We're seeing some progress here on the turnaround in Morgan Stanley's trading business, which has been a long time in the making," said Edward Jones analyst Shannon Stemm. "That Morgan Stanley had such an increase here suggests that they were able to navigate and benefit from the volatility better than peers."
Morgan Stanley shares rose as much as 10.8 percent and were last up 10.2 percent at $23.94.
Even as investors celebrated, Morgan Stanley's top brass sounded a note of caution over the investment bank's wealth management business, whose profits still lag expectations.
"Margins must improve and do so soon," a slightly impatient-sounding Chief Executive James Gorman told analysts in a conference call.
Gorman, a former McKinsey consultant who spent years running Merrill Lynch's retail brokerage, is struggling to rein in expenses in the wealth management business on which he is betting much of his reputation.
Morgan Stanley in June 2009 bought a majority interest in Citigroup's Smith Barney brokerage group. The combined wealth management business accounted for about 15 percent of the company's profit during the second quarter, but its profitability has sagged because of high expenses.
While Gorman expects the business to eventually deliver a pretax operating margin of 20 percent, the margin declined to 9 percent in the second quarter from 10 percent three months ago. The bank plans to cut costs and jobs to boost the margin.
Morgan Stanley's trading business was held back by a sharp drop in commodities-related revenue. But fluctuations in credit spreads helped the bottom line. As bond investors became more wary of financial-services firms during the quarter, the cost of insuring against their possible default rose, resulting in favorable accounting gains for the bank.
Overall, the bank reported a 10 percent drop in fixed income and commodities trading for the quarter, outperforming market expectations and bettering arch-rival Goldman Sachs.
However, when adjusting for Morgan Stanley's accounting gain and factoring in other trading business to make its results comparable to rivals, Barclays analyst Roger Freeman said Morgan Stanley's FICC results were actually down about 49 percent.
"To be sure, FICC did have a challenging quarter," he said.
Goldman shocked investors only two days earlier by reporting a 53 percent plunge in its fixed income, currency and commodities (FICC) trading business. Weak market conditions and a pullback in its own risk-taking hurt Goldman's FICC results.
In contrast, Morgan Stanley increased its risk appetite during the quarter. Its so-called value at risk, a closely watched measure of potential trading losses, rose to an average of $145 million per day in the second quarter from $121 million in the previous quarter.
BROAD IMPROVEMENTS
Even with the wealth management and FICC difficulties, Morgan Stanley impressed Wall Street.
The bank reported a quarterly loss to common shareholders of $558 million, or 38 cents per share.
The loss included a charge of $1.02 per share and a dilution of the bank's share base from the conversion of a $7.8 billion preferred stock investment by Japan's Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group. The conversion allows Morgan Stanley to avoid expensive dividends to the Japanese bank in the future.
The loss was much smaller than analysts expected. The average Wall Street forecast was a loss of 62 cents a share, according to Thomson Reuters I/B/E/S. In the same quarter a year ago, the bank earned $1.91 billion, or $1.09 a share.
Net revenue of $9.3 billion was up 17 percent from last year's quarter and also above what analysts anticipated.
It was the first time since the financial crisis that Morgan Stanley took in more revenue than Goldman Sachs.
Analysts were almost uniformly positive in their assessments.
"Morgan Stanley is the new Goldman Sachs," said Rochdale Securities analyst Richard Bove. "Every one of their divisions shows an improvement, and the improvement in trading operations is especially impressive."
Results were boosted by a strong increase in equity sales and trading revenue, up by more than a third from a year ago at $1.9 billion. The investment banking business also showed strength, with revenue up 66 percent at $1.5 billion.
In addition to advising on large mergers and improving equity underwriting results, Morgan Stanley reported its highest-ever net revenue in bond underwriting, a relatively small unit where revenues soared 59 percent to $521 million
Apple Mac OS X lion features and MacBook Air review
Cupertino based tech giant Apple has launched not just several MacBook Air and Mac Mini, it has also launched latest operating system for its machines. Many are saying that the new operating system works more like mobile devices and tab operating system that a laptop and that it is significantly improved over its old version.
Meanwhile people are excited about the latest launches of MacBook Airs that have been given significant software and hardware improvements over their previous avatars.
Apple’s low priced Macbook Air, though many people call them netbooks, are a lot better than any netbook manufactured by any producer across the world. Netbooks produced across the world are cheaper because a lot of thing in those machies are way below anything that a regular laptop may offer them.
But that is not obviously true about Apple’s MacBook Air. These have better tam, better processor and of course better performance.
But many readers are a bit disappointed. A reader while writing says, “So still no return of the 30" Cinema Display, a shame. Nice on the processor updates on the minis, but why can't I get the quad-core i7 + the Radeon 6630M graphics, and why is there no optical drive? I know Apple likes to move away from what they feel are 'legacy' technologies, but my current PC still has PS/2 ports that are used, and optical drives aren't going anywhere for at least another ten years”.
Another disappointed reader says, “I know Apple hardware is pretty good, but they're charging a grand for a suped-up netbook? Only moderately suped up at that, since it has only two gigs of RAM?”
Macbook Air 2011 Review - MacBook Air Review - Macbook Air 2011 Features - Apple Reveals New MacBook Air for 2011
Media outlets everywhere are buzzing with the news of Apple'snew MacBook Airfor 2011, which figures to be a "game changer" in the laptop market, particularly within Apple's various lines of portable computers. As of the publishing time of this article, the new MacBook Air computers are available for sale on Apple's website, and will soon be available everywhere else that Apple products are sold.
So what's new with the new MacBook Air? Why should or shouldn't you buy it? We'll dig into the details...
Apple is one of the better companies out there when it comes to strategically releasing new version of its products across various product lines. It's hard for a few months to go by without hearing about a new iPhone, iPad, MacBook, etc. That begs the question: What's special about this particular new model of the MacBook Air?
New Features
These are the new features you can expect from the newest MacBook Air:
- Faster processing speeds, utilizing Intel's Core i5 and i7 processors
- Apple's thinnest design yet for a portable computer (and only 5.3 lbs)
- Implementation of the Thunderbolt port - A newer way of connecting high-speed peripherals capable of transferring data up to 12 times faster than FireWire 800 and up to 20 times faster than USB 2.0.
- All-Flash storage - This allows you to turn the computer on instantly and access data at remarkably fast speeds.
- Back-lit keyboard - This was one nifty cosmetic feature omitted from the previous model.
- Usage of Mac OS X v10.7 Lion ("OS X Lion"), Apple's newest operating system
What's the Pricing Like?
As with all Apple products, price will depend on which one you buy (there are different variations with different specifications), however the lowest priced model will only be $999. Not a bad price, given the substantial improvements.
A Killer of the "Regular" MacBook?
Whether you think so or not doesn't matter, because Apple has decided to stop making newMacBooks, in favor of the new MacBook Air (and presumably all future models). Because of the more powerful hardware that wasn't present in the previous MacBook Air, there's really no reason to notbuy a MacBook Air over the regular MacBook.
It's worth noting that the MacBook Pro line is still alive and well, and figures to remain the top choice for those who need a laptop for intense gaming or multimedia usage.
